Herbs to Treat Bed Bugs
|
If you think you may have a problem with bed bugs, there are a variety of natural remedies including herbs to treat bed bugs in your home, apartment, hotel, or office. It's helpful to first understand what you're dealing with. Bed bugs are small, brown insects that look similar to roaches and ticks. Bed bugs survive by feeding on the blood of living creatures, and often live in mattresses because sleeping humans and pets are perfect for bed bugs to feed on. Bed bug bites are painless, and often leave itchy bumps that look similar to mosquito bites.
You can often tell that you have bed bugs by the appearance of dried excrement on mattresses and upholstered furniture. This excrement is dark in color and looks spotty. You'll want to vacuum all areas where bed bugs are suspected and launder all items in the area. However, in order to totally get rid of bed bugs, you'll need to do more than vacuuming.
Many people today prefer natural remedies like herbs to treat bed bugs. Lots of companies offer completely organic pesticides that you can use in your home to eradicate these pests. One common pesticide that's often used is one made from canola oil and pyrethins, which are natural substances extracted from certain flowers.
There are a variety of herbs that can be used on their own or blended together to create effective bed bug remedies. These herbs include:
Mint
Lavender
Cayenne
Cilantro
Black Walnut
Garlic

These herbs can be used in sachets, strewn in infested areas, or infused into spray form and applied that way. You can find many blends and concoctions on the market today that are ready to use. Look online to find out more about how to use herbs to treat bed bugs, as well as ways to use these herbs.
You can also use herbs to treat bed bug bites. Often, soothing herbs like chamomile, tea tree and lavender can be blended into a soothing concoction such as an oil or spray that is applied to itchy bites.
Today's environmentally friendly herbal blends are great for repelling and eradicating bed bugs as well as providing relief for bed bug bites. So forgo harmful pesticides and try herbs for your pest problem!
