The first step in getting rid of bed bugs is to understand what these pests are, where they come from and what they do. Bed bugs are small, only around a quarter of an inch in length. They are rusty brown in color, and have lengthly antennae. Bed bugs cannot fly, and are not the strongest climbers. They survive by feeding on the blood of living hosts, preferably humans. Chicago Woman Sues Over Bed Bugs

Chicago resident Leslie Fox, age 54, sued a New York resort after being repeatedly bitten by bed bugs. After three nights at the resort, Fox awoke to the realization that she was covered with hundreds of itchy, burning bug bites. Her husband also was bitten, but nowhere near as many times as Mrs. Fox. Bed Bugs Threaten Hotel

Recently featured by the media was the story of a Chicago woman who sued a resort for millions of dollars because of bed bugs. After the third night at the resort, the woman noticed a large number of fiery welts on her body. An actual bed bug was found in the bed of the couple, along with blood and bed bug excrement.
